Campaign finish line in sight

Election day is Thursday and six candidates continue to vie for the seat from the Nipissing riding.

NDP candidate Henri Giroux was back at the Regional Health Centre Friday with promises that an NDP government will increase hospital funding immediately by 5.3 percent with a new $1.2 billion additional investment province-wide.

Giroux says the NDP will create 2,000 new hospital beds right away, end arbitrary caps on surgeries to shorten wait times, and invest $19 billion for new health care facilities and expansions.

Meanwhile, Ontario PC candidate Vic Fedeli has been focusing on finances.

Friday it was at a stop in Callander that he promises to put even more money back in your pocket with a pledge to reduce gas prices by 10 cents a litre.

This morning, Fedeli will hold a discussion on the Ontario PC plan to help small businesses.
