WATCH: Marshall Avenue East in North Bay named among worst roads in Northern Ontario

Usually, communities want to crack Top 10 lists, but not when making the list means you rate as one of the worst roads in Ontario.

For North Bay, Marshall Avenue East has made that list being named the ninth worst roadway in Northern and Eastern Ontario.

The results are from the CAA’s annual Worst Roads contest.

North Bay wasn’t alone among northern communities to crack the top 10 list.

In Sudbury, Maley Drive finished as the second worst road in the north followed in third by Lorne Street which is well known for its potholes.

The remainder of the candidates in the regional grouping are made up communities in the Ottawa region, Pembroke, Eganville and Gloucester.

The CAA has been holding the Worst Roads contest for 15 years and at more than 3,500 submissions, this is the highest ever number of nominations the agency has ever received.

Although Maley Drive was second in the regional rankings, that’s an improvement over 2017 when it was ranked fourth in the Top 10 rankings across the entire province.

Across Ontario, Hamilton had the worst road for a street called Burlington Street East, the second straight year the street has finished as the worst road.

No community from Northern Ontario cracked the list of Top 10 roads for the entire province.
