Dog bite victim suffers ‘serious’ puncture wounds to hands and torso

Late Sunday night, the North Bay Police Service says officers attended a residence with paramedics and an ambulance after a report from a victim reporting a serious dog bite.

Police responded to the call in the Hillcrest Avenue area of North Bay and determined that a woman in her 30s had received serious dog bites which would require immediate medical care. The woman was transported to the North Bay Regional Health Centre via the ambulance.

Her injuries involved serious puncture wounds to her hands and also her torso area.

The dog owner was not present during the attack but returned to her residence and secured the dog.

Police have contacted the North Bay and District Humane Society as well as the Health Unit to make them aware of the incident regarding the dog bite.

The Humane Society is investigating the incident.
