North Bay and District Humane Society holding its first ever microchip day for cats and dogs

The North Bay and District Humane Society is making it easier for pet owners to find pets if they get lost.

The agency is holding its first ever microchip day where it will provide cat and dog owners with a chip that locates Fido or Felix if they wander away from home.

The humane society is calling this Saturday’s event Barkfest Microchip Day.

Executive director Liam Cullin says microchips are the most efficient way to track lost pets.

Cullin says with a microchip in place, the lost animal is easy to locate meaning it spends less time away from its home.

The chips cost $25 but if you don’t yet have a pet license, $40 dollars nets the owner a chip and license.

Barkfest Microchip Day takes place at the society’s 2060 Main Street West location in North Bay.

The event which includes a barbeque and several other activities runs from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
