Board elaborates on incident at Alliance

Some more information coming from the Near North District School Board in regards to yesterday’s hold and secure at Alliance French Immersion Public School.

Students were kept in their classrooms for an hour under supervision from their instructors while police investigated a student’s report of seeing a man on school property with what that student thought might be a gun.

North Bay police responded and the emergency protocol called for a hold and secure while the police investigated.

A release from the Board today says the North Bay Police Service has concluded its investigation into the matter, finding that there was a not a concern for the safety of anyone at the school or elsewhere.

The release states that every concern brought forward by students is taken seriously and the safety of students and staff is of the utmost importance. “Communication to parents, students, and community stakeholders is issued in accordance with this protocol.

“The NNDSB continues to work with contractors to fully operationalize the existing security systems in place at Alliance. In the meantime, the administration and staff continue to utilize the existing security protocols and procedures.”
