Police report a mother and her child as victims in domestic incident

A 37-year-old man from North Bay faces several charges following a domestic incident and damage police say he caused at police headquarters while in custody.

The accused and the victim do not reside together. North Bay Police says the man attended the victim’s residence and the two became involved in a heated argument. During the course of the argument, the accused struck the woman and her four-year-old child.

Officers attended the scene following a 911 call reporting a man and woman arguing outside a residence on Third Avenue in North Bay.

Police arrested and charged the man with:

  • Two counts of assault
  • One count of mischief under $5,000
  • One count of breach of probation
  • One count of fail to comply with undertaking

The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention.

The man had left the scene prior to police arrival. Police were able to locate him a short distance away and he was arrested. While in custody at the North Bay Police Headquarters he defaced property at that location, resulting in the mischief charge.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse today.

In order to protect the identity of the victims, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.
