Canada Day Events Schedule for North Bay

This Canada Day, the Moose Rocks the Boat fireworks cruise on the Chief Commanda II is scheduled to depart at 8:30pm. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the ticket office on the Government Dock or by calling 705-494-8167. The fireworks finale will cap off the Canada Day celebration, beginning at approximately 10:00pm at the waterfront.

Observe Canada’s 151st birthday with activities in North Bay for the whole family and celebrate youth, sport, history and multiculturalism.

  • The theme for the tenth annual Canada Day Poster Challenge is “Canada Pride.” The Committee has invited students from area elementary schools to illustrate how people, places and events have made us proud of our nation. During the Canada Day opening ceremonies on July 1st, the poster contest winner will formally be announced.
  • Along with Canada’s 151st birthday, we will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the City of North Bay’s amalgamation with the townships of Widdifield and West Ferris.
  • Registration for the annual Canada Day Road Race will start at 9:30am at the A.C.T Shelter.
  • The Canada Day festivities will kick off at noon at the Waterfront A.C.T. shelter with the singing of O’Canada and the official cake cutting ceremonies hosted by the Association of Canadian Travelers and the Best Western North Bay Hotel & Conference Centre.
  • After the opening ceremonies, the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre will host the 12th annual Multicultural Showcase. This event features an afternoon of performers highlighting the diversity of North Bay through music, song, dance and other art forms.
  • Be sure to head over to Discovery Museum for free entry into their “Main Street North Bay,” exhibit at between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
  • From 10:00am – 12:00pm there will be cricket coaching followed by a 1:00pm cricket game held at Amelia soccer field for people ages 16 and over. Participants must register in advance by contacting Vindra at 705-495-8931.
  • The afternoon’s agenda of events include the Canada Day Kid Zone that has a wide range of supervised sporting activities for children, Heritage Railway train and carousel rides, and face painting. Food vendors will also be set up during the event.
  • Green River Revival, North America’s “most authentic sounding” Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band will be the headline performers at the Kiwanis Bandshell from 8:30pm to 10:00pm. The Muckers will open from 2:30pm to 3:30pm and The Drive will perform from 3:30 pm to 4:30p, followed by the Josh Dimmel Band from 7:00pm until 8:00pm.
