Seguin hands over reins to new West Nipissing Police Chief

It’s now official, Inspector Ray St. Pierre is the new Chief of the West Nipissing Police.

St. Pierre was sworn in as Chief during a quiet ceremony on Tuesday.

The swearing in ceremony was a small affair with a small number of people.

One of those guests was Chuck Seguin whose official last day on the job as Police Chief was Tuesday.

Seguin, who was dressed in a suit and a former North Bay police officer, congratulated St. Pierre on his appointment.

St. Pierre is a veteran of the West Nipissing Police who the board appointed as interim Chief last week.

Seguin retired as Chief to pursue a new career outside of policing.

St. Pierre takes over at a time when council is trying to switch to the OPP, an issue the West Nipissing Police Services Board is challenging in the courts.

Also present at the swearing in ceremony was Barry Bertrand, the chair of the local police board.
