Sunday’s plane crash in West Nipissing has claimed the lives of two people, a husband and wife from the Greater Sudbury area, authorities have confirmed.
The coroner’s investigation continues with the assistance of West Nipissing Police, according to Chief Ray St. Pierre.
The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash in the Kipling area. The cause of the crash has not been determined at this time.
The plane went down around 12:45pm Sunday, prompting a response from the West Nipissing Police, OPP and West Nipissing Firefighters.
People who called emergency responders about the crash also reported dark smoke billowing into the air.
The plane burst into fire when it crashed but firefighters had the flames extinguished soon after they arrived on the scene.
Police say they will not be releasing the names of the victims at this time.
