Driver ditches stolen Mercedes in attempt to flee police

The driver of a stolen black Mercedes sedan fled North Bay police after an attempted traffic stop and headed northbound on Pinewood Park at a high rate of speed before turning onto Birch’s road and ending up in the ditch.

The four occupants of the vehicle, two women and two men between the ages of 20 and 22, attempted to flee on foot but were rounded up by several North Bay Police officers and the OPP Canine Unit and arrested without incident.

Police say a search, incident to arrest, identified that two of the occupants of the vehicle were in possession of illicit drugs.

Seized as part of the investigation was:

  • 13.5 methamphetamine pills
  • 35 grams of marijuana
  • 0.3 grams of cannabis resin

All four people were later released from police custody and will appear in court in North Bay on August 14 to answer to the charges.

The driver, a 22-year-old North Bay man has been charged with:

  • One count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • One count of Flight from Police
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.00.

A 22-year-old male passenger of North Bay has been charged with:

  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.00
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)

A 20-year-old female passenger of North Bay has been charged with:

  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.00
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cannabis Resin)

A 21-year-old female passenger of North Bay has been charged with:

  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.00
