Fire gets an exile on Main Street

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to an active structure fire in the 500 block of Main Street East just before 11:00pm last night.

The smoke, heavy at times, billowed from an upper floor side window as firefighters used a ladder truck to reach their entry point.

According to bystanders, the tenants of the building had been forced to leave weeks prior due to flooding issues. A large construction bin sits in front and signs are visible on the building indicating renovations are taking place.

Fire crews fought through heavy smoke and extra-hot temperatures as the humidex hovered around 30 degrees at the time.
