Simply, ‘North Bay Museum’

At the official opening of its “Main Street, North Bay” exhibit, the rebranding to a new name (North Bay Museum) and the unveiling of a  new logo shared centre stage.

Raymond Brand presented the new logo, which includes an arch. The arch has connections to many aspects of North Bay’s history including the Gateway Arch and railway tunnels. The shape also connects directly to the North Bay Museum building, which has arches in the windows.

John Richardson spoke about the legacy of the Richardson’s store. Ralph Diegel, who has been at Deegan’s since 1946, viewed artifacts on display at the Deegan’s storefront including the shoe fitting fluoroscope he once used to find the right fit for each customer by taking X-rays.

Eighty people attended the opening including several families connected to the exhibits on display. The exhibit was made possible by the Canadian Cultural Spaces Fund, which matched museum fundraising for the project.

In an effort to make museum admission more accessible, the museum has also lowered its admission rates. Adult admission has been lowered to $6 senior/student admission has been lowered to $5, and a $20 family pass has been introduced (all prices now include HST).
