Evading RIDE stop leads to charges

Last Wednesday, officers conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere program (RIDE) on Highway 654 in Callander.

The OPP says at 10:48pm, a motorcycle approached the RIDE program and attempted to avoid it.  The driver was stopped by police. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not possess a valid driver’s licence.

A 34-year-old North Bay man is charged with driving a motor vehicle with no permit, driving a motor vehicle with no plate, failure to surrender insurance card, and driving while under suspension.

The accused was released by way of summons. He is scheduled to appear at court on August 17 in North Bay.
