OPP says two Callander men face impaired charges

The North Bay OPP is reporting two incidents in which alcohol-related charges have been laid and several offences for a motorcyclist driving without a licence in the past week in the area.

Last Wednesday, at approximately 4:08pm, members of the North Bay Detachment of the OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11, near Cook Mills Road, in North Bay. Officers later stopped the motor vehicle on Chippewa Street.

The 36-year-old male driver from Callander was arrested and charged with impaired driving, failing or refusing to provide a sample, driving while disqualified due to a provincial suspension, and two counts of driving while under suspension.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days. The accused was released by way of promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 31 in North Bay.

Sunday, members of the North Bay OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 94, in Corbeil. Further investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking.

A 41-year-old Callander man is charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded. The accused was released by way of promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 31, in North Bay.
