Shogren vows to lead, do the right thing

North Bay City Councillor Derek Shogren is announcing he will seek re-election.

Shogren says you need to be “all-in,” if you are running for council and when you are serving the public, as an effective councillor is not a spectator who just sits through meetings.

To that end, Shogren says he prefers to be involved and he has been one of the busier councillors over the last four years as he participates in over a dozen boards and committees.

He says he has always had a passion for serving the community. Before council I was proud to sit as a board member at the YMCA and the Health unit, I chaired the local labour market group as well as being elected twice as President of the Chamber of Commerce.

Shogren says the difference between a manager and a leader is that a manager does things right, but a leader does the right thing. We need to do the right thing more often.
