An update on this morning’s fatal plane crash near Talon Lake.

According to the OPP, one occupant has been pronounced deceased after the aircraft went down into the bush area approximately 100 metres from the lake in Rutherglen Township.

Members of the North Bay Detachment of the OPP, along with the Bonfield Fire Department and the Bonfield Ambulance Service responded to the crash shortly before 10:00am.

First responders, including volunteer firefighters, paramedics and police attended the scene of the crash.

The OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner- Ontario Forensic Pathology Service have been notified and are assisting with the investigation.

A team of investigators from the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is responding to the “air accident involving a Quad City Challenger II ultralight aircraft near North Bay, Ontario. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.”
