OPP urges caution on Highway 69

The OPP continues to monitor the smoke levels on Highway 69 resulting from Parry Sound Fire 33.

Highway 69 remains open at this time and police are on scene supporting the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), ensuring public safety and assisting with evacuations.

The MNRF reports shifting winds kept the fire approximately five kilometres from the Trans-Canada Highway.
The OPP is reminding the public to slow down and turn on head and tail lights when travelling through smoky areas to increase visibility.

For updates on highway conditions, including closures, please call 5-1-1 or visit online resources here.
