A snapshot of the June job postings report from the Labour Market Group.

In Nipissing District, June ended with 495 jobs posted, up 2.3 per cent from the same time last year but down 56 postings from May.

Those job postings were offered by 218 unique employers, up 5.3 per cent over June 2017 but down 17 employers as compared to May.

Among the employers who posted the most jobs in June are Central Welding & Iron Works with 22, Statistics Canada with 20 and Canadore College with 11 postings.

The average hourly wage of all jobs posted for the month of June was just over $17.

The leading industries posting jobs in June in Nipissing District were retail with 88 and health care or social assistance with 63.

The top skills desired by employers were communication first, ability to work with others second, and flexibility third.

According to the federal government, the unemployment rate in Nipissing District rose from 10.4 in June to 10.7 per cent in July.
