No more forest fires burning out of control

All the forest fires burning in Northeastern Ontario are all finally under control, or being held as well as observed.

It’s the first time in weeks that not a single wildfire is out of control.

Wednesday also saw firefighters reduce the total number of active fires to 42 from Tuesday’s high of 45.

Among the fires that continues to be held and hasn’t grown in days is North Bay 72.

It remains at 27,285 hectares large.

Also seeing no growth over the past several days is Parry Sound 33 which is being held at 11,362 hectares.

With Parry Sound 33, ground crews are using infrared equipment to find hot spots among the smoke and then extinguishing them.

Hot spots within North Bay 72 also continue to be found and are being put out.

The ground crews in the North Bay cluster continue to get bucket support from helicopters.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry continues to have travel restrictions in place for both North Bay 72 and Parry Sound 33.
