Highway 11 north to be completely closed Thursday

Highway 11 travellers will have to take the long way around the site of a days-old tractor-trailer crash Thursday as the road will be closed between North Bay and Temiskaming Shores.

Officials from the Municipality of Temagami say the highway will be impassable from 8:00am for approximately four to six hours as tow trucks work to reel in a tractor-trailer out of Angus Lake.

The truck has been lying on its side, partially submerged in the lake since it crashed Sunday morning, south of Temagami. As a result of the operator losing control, Highway 11 was already completely closed at the scene of the incident for several hours due to live hydro lines on the road.

The driver of the southbound tractor-trailer, a 39-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with “Fail to drive in the marked lane.”
