Highway 11 North will now remain closed into this evening as crews continue to remove a tractor-trailer in Angus Lake north of North Bay.
It was hoped the rig would be out of the lake by 4:00pm Thursday so that the highway could re-open in both directions.
The extended closure is forcing motorists onto a lengthy detour.
The OPP say northbound traffic has to take Highway 63 in North Bay and head toward Temiscaming, then drive north on Highway 101 through Quebec and finally westward on Highway 65 toward New Liskeard.
The driver of the transport is charged with failing to drive in the marked lane.
OPP Sergeant Carlo Berardi with more on the extension of the Highway 11 closure:
#OPP reminding motorists that #Hwy11 is closed completely at Rabbit Lake Rd just south of #Temagami detour thru Quebec via #Hwy101. Will be closed until evening hours, maybe longer. Recovery of truck in progress. Check On 511 for updates. ^cb pic.twitter.com/I0KYvttkcL
