Suspect flees; arrest caught on video

After what the North Bay Police Service reports as some erratic driving, a foot chase, and an assault on a police officer, a 35-year-old North Bay man was arrested, Tuesday (see video).

Police say the man known to be a disqualified driver was observed by officers driving a vehicle downtown in North Bay. As a result of the investigation North Bay Police arrested and charged the man with:

  • One count of Fail to Stop for Police
  • One count of Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle
  • One count of Driving Disqualified
  • One count of assaulting a Police Officer
  • One count of breach of probation

Shortly before noon on Tuesday, the accused was observed driving a motor vehicle in the 200 block of Main Street West in the City of North Bay.

Officers attempted to stop the accused however he ignored the officer’s direction and drove away in an erratic manner. The accused abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot in the downtown area. He was pursued by police and at one point he assaulted an officer who attempted to stop him. The chase ended when the accused entered a building and he was arrested by police.

The accused has been remanded into custody and awaits a bail hearing in relation to the five charges.
