Bear spotted near busy residential road

A concerned citizen has advised the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) this morning of a black bear sighting within the city limits.

The bear was spotted at 8:50am in the area of Ski Club Road, between Bolton and McKee Drive heading towards the Laurentian Escarpment Conservation Area.

A sign has been erected at the trailhead and will remain there for 72 hours advising those using the trails of the bear sighting.

Bear sightings are normal for this time of year as the tree nuts are available and bears begin foraging in preparation for their winter hibernation.
