Additional funding for NBRHC

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says he has more good news for health care in the riding.

Fedeli says he is pleased to announce an additional $1.95 million in new funding for North Bay Regional Health Centre.

This funding will allow the hospital to continue operation of 16 beds for 12 months this year (until March 31, 2019) to alleviate pressures during capacity surges that typically occur surrounding flu season.

“This will also help the hospital continue to deal with ongoing pressures created by the closure of the 66-bed Lady Isabelle long-term care facility in Trout Creek,” said Fedeli.

The money in addition to $2.04 million announced last week to support 26 transitional care spaces for the hospital, designed for Alzheimer’s patients and others suffering from dementia.

Officials say the funding is part of the provincial government’s $90 million in-year investment to help end hallway health care across the province.
