That’s a lot of smiles!

Community Living North Bay is this year’s local charity recipient of nearly $45,000 from the Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign.

The full $1 from each Smile Cookie sold during the campaign, which ran for one week in September is being donated to Community Living North Bay. The fundraising will help to continue to build access and inclusion in our community. The cheque for $45,688 was presented this morning at the Tim Hortons location on Trout Lake Road.

The Smile Cookie program started in 1996 in a Tim Horton’s restaurant in Hamilton, Ontario. Since then, the program has grown to include all restaurants across Canada and has expanded into the United States.

Not including this year’s totals, the Smile Cookie program has raised over $46 million for local charities.

Tim Horton’s has always been a leader and supporter of Community Living North Bay and has employed people with intellectual disabilities for many years. This partnership will not only help the campaign but the overall mission to create a welcoming, supportive and accepting community here in North Bay.

Community Living North Bay supports over 500 people with intellectual disabilities and their families, by providing a diverse range of inclusion-based services that begin at EarlyOn Child and Family Centre, to transitioning from school to helping individuals find employment, to finding apartments and homes. These services, as well as many others, help people with intellectual disabilities and their families live a life that many often take for granted.
