Significant milestone reached by the NBACF

The North Bay and Area Community Foundation has now disbursed over $1 million.

Last evening at The Grande Event Centre, the Community Foundation was joined by donors, volunteers, and grant recipients as they celebrated reaching the major granting milestone. It was in 2010 that the organization gave out its first grants, totalling $5,000 to five local organizations. Since then, the NBACF has established 15 funds and granted to more than 50 charitable groups.

The foundation has also provided funding to a wide variety of projects in this area, such as a music memory program at the Alzheimer’s Society, healthy active living and eating programs at PADDLE, the Senior Games in East Ferris, Go Girls and Game On at Big Brothers and Sisters, the Children’s Festival at the Capitol Centre and so many more.

The Foundation credits its success to the generosity of the people in this area and the spirit of our community. They thank those who have created funds to ensure charitable organizations have access to sustainable funding. They also thank those who have donated, supported events, volunteered, and of course, the people working hard in our local charities.
