One Kids Place continues to benefit from Kiwanis coffee table book sales

Kiwanis Club of Nipissing President Chris Mayne makes the presentation of $10,000 to Denis Filiatrault, executive director of One Kids Place.

Northern Shores, a scenic four-season coffee table book that Kiwanis Club of Nipissing initiated as a fundraiser in 2011 by then-President and book co-editor Chris Mayne has raised thousands of dollars to enhance One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre programs and services for children in North Eastern Ontario Region.

The book has been a fundraising method over the past seven years and has achieved a new total – $ 40,000 – with all proceeds going towards programs and services for the many children of Northeastern Ontario who use the facility. An initial 10,000 was given by Kiwanis towards the building campaign eight years ago. That is a combined total of $50,000 for One Kids Place.

Kiwanis gives thanks to the many businesses and individuals involved in supporting the club to achieve this milestone amount. Kiwanis members have been serving area youth for over 72 years, enhancing the quality of life for North Bay families by contributing millions of dollars building legacy projects and sponsoring annual programs which provide many benefits to our community.

Mayne, the 2018-19 KC Nipissing President is grateful to the businesses and individuals who continue to support this One Kids Place fundraising initiative.

“We wish to extend special acknowledgement to members of the North Bay Real Estate Board and numerous businesses who saw the OKP community benefit by making significant purchase of these books to make today’s donation possible. To date, the book, available at locations such as The Green Store, Northern Shores Pharmacy, North Bay Museum and Homewood Suites have been seeing continued sales with their customers which has yielded $ 40,000 from the proceeds of book sales,” stated Mayne.

Denis Filiatrault, executive director, One Kids Place states “One Kids Place is truly grateful to The Kiwanis Club of Nipissing for their continued support and dedication to our children and families. We are very proud of the amazing work our staff do every day for the children and youth with special needs in our community. By supporting this campaign, you are helping raise awareness and important funds which allow us to provide additional programs and services to all our clients. We look forward to our continued partnership.”
