Sunday fire victim treated for smoke inhalation

A Moose FM listener alerted us yesterday afternoon to a fire in progress just east of North Bay.

Sure enough, the North Bay Fire and Emergency Services crews were sent scrambling to the blaze in a detached garage off Highway 17, just past Stockfish Ford.

NBFES Platoon Chief Stu Mossington says crews arrived at a fully-involved structure fire with flames coming out of both front doors, windows and parts of the roof.

Mossington says water suppression was effective in knocking down the flames but the detached garage is destroyed.

One of the property’s owners, who was on site when the fire started, had to be treated for smoke inhalation but will be alright, says Mossington.

That owner indicated that the cause of the fire was from an appliance inside the garage.
