Old Fashioned Christmas Walk celebrates 30th anniversary

The Downtown Improvement Area in North Bay has several new features for this year’s Old Fashioned Christmas Walk.

The major addition is a fireworks show and it’s to help commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Christmas Walk.

DIA executive director Jeff Serran says the fireworks show will take place behind the museum.

However, Serran cautions the display is weather permitting.

“We’re ready to go but you always have to keep factors in mind like a high wind for safety reasons,” he said.

Assuming the weather is not a factor, the fireworks will be set off at about 8:30pm and last 15 to 20 minutes.

The last firework will signify the end of another Christmas Walk.

Another addition to this year’s Christmas Walk is the VOX Choir.

Traditional events are also back like the horse and wagon rides and Cheapskates with its snow rail jam.

Also back is North Bay Hydro with its bucket that rises people into the air giving them a bird’s eye view of the city.

The Christmas Walk begins at 6:00pm the evening of November 30th with the annual lighting of the tree at the parkette.
