Yeo’s Blues stay ends on a sour note

The announcement came late last night after his St. Louis Blues had dropped a 2-0 decision to the struggling L.A. Kings.

North Bay’s Mike Yeo has been let go by the Blues and will be replaced on an interim basis by former NHLer Craig Berube, Yeo’s assistant.

The 45-year-old Yeo spent parts of three seasons with St. Louis and also served as head coach of the Minnesota Wild after winning the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009.

Yeo, who grew up in North Bay and played for the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves, rose through the ranks of the Penguins organization as a coach after a career-ending knee injury suffered as a player in the minor leagues.
