King sets eyes on chair of NOSDA

When the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association next holds its annual elections, its chair could be an individual well known to the Nipissing area.

Mark King, who is the current chair of the Nipissing DSSAB, has been approached to seek the chair’s position at NOSDA.

NOSDA is the umbrella group for the northern DSSAB’s and King told Moose News he will let his name stand when NOSDA elections roll around.

King’s years on the Nipissing DSSAB have put him in contact with many DSSAB representatives in Northeastern and Northwestern Ontario.

In addition, he’s developed numerous contacts at Queen’s Park and believes that’s something that he can help NOSDA with as chair.

“Those personal contacts are tremendously important when you’re trying to get your point across,” King said.

King has found through the local DSSAB, many problems Nipissing faces are similar to problems in the Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie or Timmins regions.

When large sections of Northern Ontario experience the same problems, he says “it gives us an opportunity to speak with a really large voice to Cabinet Ministers to explain our problem”.

King says NOSDA helps ensure the DSSABs’ voices are heard by government personnel “and that we’re not left out of the discussions.”
