NBPS opens homicide investigation after gunshot victim dies in hospital

Shortly before 9:00pm on Wednesday, members of the North Bay Police Service responded to an incident in the Pinewood area of North Bay.

The NBPS says officers, including members of the Emergency Response Team, were responding to a firearm-related call. Upon arrival, they found a man in a residence at the corner of Beattie Street and Vimy Street suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital and shortly after arrival was pronounced dead.

North Bay Police are currently seeking the whereabouts of at least one suspect in this investigation. Police believe this was not a random attack and that there is no concern for public safety.

There is no description of the suspects available at this time.

The firearm involved in the attack has not been recovered.

North Bay Police are not releasing the name of the victim until next of kin has been notified.

The North Bay Police Criminal Investigation Section is continuing the investigation at this time with the assistance of the North Bay Forensic Identification Unit.
