Think tank creates student placements in North Bay

Post-secondary students who live in Northern Ontario and have an interest in public policy have a chance to further their skills and knowledge in the field.

The Northern Policy Institute, a think tank based in Thunder Bay, has 10 summer placements ready to go next year and two of the placements are in North Bay.

NPI says the North Bay placements are for two data analysts.

NPI holds the summer placement program each year and this is the sixth year for the 16-week program which runs from May to August.

The program is known as Experience North and gives students a chance to make a difference in the north.

NPI says to be eligible, post-secondary students need to be returning to school next September.

The think tank says the North Bay placements are not exclusive to students who call the community home.

It says students from the surrounding municipalities like Mattawa and West Nipissing can also apply.

The deadline to apply is January 31st.

NPI also has student placements in Parry Sound, Timmins, Kenora and Marathon.
