A head-on collision had claimed one life on a northern highway and has sent the other driver to the hospital with serious injuries, the OPP confirms.
Police say the deceased driver died at the scene of the collision on Highway 17 between Wahnapitae and Markstay, west of Kukagami Lake Road, some 100 kilometres west of North Bay.
The name of the deceased subject is not being released at this time pending the notification of next of kin.
The highway was closed for approximately five hours and has since reopened.
The police investigation is ongoing.
Sunday at approximately 3:22pm, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Sudbury Detachment and OPP Technical Collision Investigations, as well as the Markstay-Warren Fire Department, the Greater Sudbury Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to the head-on collision, on Highway 17 in the Municipality of Markstay-Warren, Ontario.
