Case of missing New Liskeard woman remains open 22 years later

It’s been 22 years since a New Liskeard teen was reported missing and police haven’t given up looking for her.

The Temiskaming Shores OPP detachment continues to track down tips as they come in trying to find Melanie Ethier who was 15 when she disappeared.

Ethier was leaving a friend’s home around 2:00am September 29th, 1996 and walking to her home about a kilometre away.

However, somewhere along the way, she vanished without a trace and no one has seen or heard from her since.

The OPP admit the Ethier case has been challenging because the young woman simply disappeared.

Investigators still believe someone has information that could help them solve the missing person case.

They also encourage the public to keep sending in tips.

The OPP says it won’t close the case until it determines Ethier’s whereabouts or is certain about what happened to her.
