Rota holding information session on summer jobs program on Monday

Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota is hosting an information session on the federal government’s summer jobs program.

Rota will meet with employers who are thinking about applying to the program but need more information.

The session is January 14th at the North Bay Museum on the second floor.

It takes place from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

This year the program has been expanded to include young people aged 15 to 30.

In the past only students were eligible.

The criteria for funding has also changed.

Under the program, non-profit groups can receive 100 percent funding of Ontario’s minimum wage.

Public and private-sector employers with less than 51 employees are eligible for 50 percent of the wage subsidy.

Employers who want to be at the information session need to RSVP their attendance by calling 474-3700.
