The man arrested and charged in the 21-year-old murder of Renee Sweeney will wait another month to find out if he has been granted bail.
In the interim, Robert Steven Wright, a 39-year-old North Bay resident accused of the 1998 first degree murder of Sweeney, will remain in custody in Sudbury.
Following a three-day bail hearing, the details of which are protected by a publication ban, the court has reserved a ruling until March 27.
Wright, who police say also goes by “Steven” and “Steve,” was arrested December 11 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre where he was employed as a laboratory technician. Investigators report they have linked Wright forensically to the crime.
Investigators confirm Wright attended Lockerby Composite School and was 18 and a resident of Sudbury at the time of Sweeney’s death by repeated stabbing. The 23-year-old Laurentian University student was killed at an adult video store where she worked on January 27, 1998.
