City of North Bay crews are spending the early part of the afternoon putting the finishing touches on Memorial Drive, closed since early Monday.
City officials say the grader has been making passes to clear the snow that blew in from Lake Nipissing during a high-wind event Sunday into Monday. Trucks have also been sent out to sand the road, helping to make the road safe as it reopens this afternoon.
The City made the decision to close the road, which traces the shore of Lake Nipissing, due to whiteout conditions.
Also exacerbating the clean-up are the areas of packed snow left behind by drivers who ignored the barriers and proceeded down Memorial Drive.
