Flag poles and some interlock at City Hall to get some work

The groundwork in front of North Bay City Hall is being reconstructed.

The work includes replacing and raising the height of the interlock bricks to the same level as the first level so people with mobility issues can get into the building.

This work is also expected to get rid of the pooling effect by the entrance because of interlock unevenness.

The pools of water freeze during winter and create unsafe walking conditions.

The replacement project was designed to take place over five stages and the current work is phase four.

It also includes replacing the three flag poles at the building.

Staff say the flag poles are showing their age and one of them has begun to bend.

Evergreen Landscaping won the tender to do the work at a cost of $105,600.

Evergreen beat out three other businesses that came in with bids ranging from $134,485 to $192,900.
