New political party to field candidate in Nipissing-Timiskaming riding

Residents of Nipissing-Timiskaming will have another candidate to choose from in the upcoming federal election.

Elections Canada has officially recognized the riding association of the People’s Party of Canada.

The president of the riding association is Craig Dellandrea.

Dellandrea says the association will pick a candidate to run in the October election.

He also says several riding associations are being formed in Northern Ontario.

They include Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma –Manitoulin-Kapuskasing and Timmins-James Bay.

An association has already been registered for Parry Sound-Muskoka while the Nickel Belt riding association has not yet been formed.

A representative from PPC headquarters in Quebec told MyNorthBay.com the goal is to have an association in every riding in the country.

The PPC is the brainchild of Maxime Bernier, a former Conservative MP who left the party last year.

Bernier ran for the Tory leadership and finished a close second to current leader Andrew Scheer.
