Jocko Point still looking for volunteers to fight flood warning

The need for people to help fill sandbags in Jocko Point remains high.

Jocko Point continues to experience severe flooding and at last 150 homes near Lake Nipissing were severely damaged last week because of the rising water level of the lake.

Nipissing First Nation says even if you can spare an hour, your help is needed and that an hour can make a difference.

NFN says it will need volunteers for the rest of the week.

Those who can help can drop by the Jocko Point Fire Hall.

Jocko Point residents began fighting severe flooding last week.

NFN says the situation is going to get worse because of expected rain and the snowmelt which will further increase the height of Lake Nipissing.

Wednesday afternoon the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry issued a statement that the level of Lake Nipissing is expected to rise about .5 cm a day for the next several days.
