FONOM concerned over proposed legislation

A Northern Ontario lobby group is concerned that proposed legislation will let groups make false accusations without suffering the consequences.  The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities says Bill 83 protects anyone making baseless accusations.  FONOM  says it means groups like Greenpeace can keep making false claims against Resolute Forest without fear of reprisals.  Greenpeace has regularly attacked the company, then admitted its claims were wrong but now it’s started a new round of criticism.   FONOM welcomes debates on issues but not when the information is wrong and it wants MPPs to reconsider the language in Bill 83.
