Birchaven to be surrounded by construction projects

Construction season is ramping up and residents in the Birchaven area are facing weeks, if not months, of disruptions.

The City of North Bay Water and Sewer Department will be closing Wickstead Avenue from Barber Street to Lavase Road for approximately one month, beginning today.

This closure is for the installation of new water, storm and sanitary mains as part of the Lavase Project.

The closure does not include the intersections of Wickstead with Lavase or Barber, so a detour with signage will be in place for local traffic.

Entering or exiting Birchaven and driving in from the lake and Highway 63 will be challenging as the Trout Lake Road overpass is down to two lanes this week.

Expect traffic to be heavier on Trout Lake Road as the reconstruction of Seymour Street eventually pushes traffic in that direction and toward another major reconstruction project on Cassells Street, between the Highway 11/17 bypass and King Street West. Both those major projects are expected to be in full swing within weeks.
