Tourist sector open for business in Papineau-Cameron

Despite the flooding and a state of emergency in Mattawa, the tourism sector in Papineau-Cameron, a neighbouring community is not affected.

However, Papineau-Cameron Mayor Robert Corriveau says many people are assuming that the flooding has affected businesses in his municipality and keeping them closed.

Corriveau says this is not the case and that they are open.

Corrvieau says, in fact, some of the accommodation businesses in the town have offered residents displaced by the flooding free temporary housing.

Corriveau says the only tourist-related business that’s been damaged by the flooding is Mattawa Adventure Camp.

He says the business saw some minor property damage but that it is open.

Corriveau says the businesses are ready to serve the public this week, the weekend and all year long.
