Crime drops in North Bay during April

Compared to April 2018, this past April was relatively quiet in the crime department in North Bay.

There were no robberies in April while the year before saw three robberies.

April also saw no vehicles stolen while seven were stolen the same time a year ago.

Also down were sexual assaults; one compared to seven the previous year.

Police had less theft under $5,000 incidents to investigate.

They looked into 53 incidents, which was a big drop from the 114 they had last year for the same month.

It was the same story for thefts over $5,000.

In 2018 there were five such thefts but only one this past April.

The number of assaults and break, enter and thefts were the same year over year.

Police add when it comes to assaults, they achieved an 85 percent clearance rate.

April saw 81 motor vehicle collisions which resulted in 10 people getting hurt.
