Deputy Mayor calls for property tax increase up to 6%…

Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette would like to see up to a 6% increase in North Bay’s property taxes . He says he wants to see the city grow, without staff or service cuts. Many senior councillors are speaking out against the suggested hike, including Mike Anthony, who says the city should be looking at adjusting their infrastructure plan instead. Mayor Al McDonald says he would like to see a tax levy increase that rises with the rate of inflation, which is at about 2 per cent.
