Thousands of community care access health workers continue to walk the picket lines today, fighting for a small wage increase. Stories are now emerging about patients suffering from the strike, and not receiving the care they need. Jennifer Hunt, who is the Local 12 ONA North Bay branch representative, says she’s not surprised that the employers’ contingency plan is failing. Hunt adds that hospitals are beginning to get overwhelmed with patients who would normally be treated by CCAC nurses. Over 3500 CCAC workers have been on strike since January 30th, including 57 in North Bay.
