Man charged twice on same day for different offences

A 30-year-old Sturgeon Falls man faces several charges after being arrested twice on the same day for different offences.

The man was first arrested by Nipissing West OPP mid-afternoon on July 13th  for failing to appear in court.

Police released him on a promise to appear in court on September 5th.

Then during the early evening hours of the same day, the personal vehicle of an OPP officer parked at the Nipissing West OPP building on John Street went missing.

Officers with the Warren and Sudbury OPP detachments found the vehicle on Highway 17 within Sudbury city limits.

The vehicle wasn’t damaged but during their investigation police learned the individual they stopped was the same person wanted in connection with the failure to appear in court matter.

The man is now charged with theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and driving a motor vehicle without a license.
