The city of North Bay is preparing to move to a new water billing system. The new system will have a fixed rate, plus a rate based on consumption. The city has suggested two options, one with a 60 per cent fixed rate, and another with a 40 per cent fixed rate. Meanwhile, the North Bay Taxpayers Association says the variable rate should be way higher, at 70 to 75 per cent, so that bills reflect how much water people actually use.
