North Bay council gets public feedback on operating budget

A member of the taxpayers association in North Bay is suggesting a universal cut for all city hall employees to make ends meet.  Miles Peters made the suggestion at council Monday night as councillors heard the public’s thoughts on the operating budget.  Peters says if unionized workers took a two hour wage cut and management had their wages reduced by an equivalent factor, the city could save three million dollars.  Another suggestion came from Denis St. Onge.  He’d like to see what the OPP would charge to police the city compared to the municipal force.  St. Onge also suggested replacing retiring firefighters with volunteers.
